Lotty Rosenfeld
Chilean visual artist, born in Santiago in 1943.
The development of the social reality that frames our routines became the physical basis of my creative interventions. For this purpose, from 1979 to date, I use a traffic signal as the main analog model. I intervene the white lines that divide the lanes of a road, modifying them materially generating another sign, the + sign that I form by crossing two lines: the first imposed by a code of social regulation, while the second was proposed by Art as a sign of transgression . By introducing "Crisis" into an arbitrary order, the work encourages individuals to rethink their uncritical submission to conventional codes, thus breaking the supposedly "natural" nature of the signs.
Lotty Rosenfeld is part of the '70s generation, and joined the advanced scene. In 1979 he made his first action with the C.A.D.A group, the group made a strong inflection in the history of national art.
The work of Lotty Rosenfeld, linked from the beginning to the engraving, then took, under the Pinochet dictatorship, the course of the recordings in cinematographic productions that mainly consist of operations in the public space.
Lotty Rosenfeld has performed artistic actions in different cities such as Santiago, Washington and New York, Delhi, Kassel, Havana, among others.

El desarrollo de la realidad social que enmarca nuestras rutinas se convirtió en la base física de mis intervenciones creativas. Para este propósito, desde 1979 hasta la fecha, uso una señal de tráfico como modelo analógico principal. Intervengo las líneas blancas que dividen los carriles de una carretera, modificándolas materialmente generando otro signo, el signo + que formo entrecruzando dos líneas: la primera impuesta por un código de regulación social, mientras que la segunda fue propuesta por Art como una señal de transgresión. Introduciendo "Crisis" dentro de un orden arbitrario, el trabajo estimula a los individuos a repensar su sumisión acrítica a los códigos convencionales, rompiendo así la naturaleza supuestamente "natural" de los signos.
Lotty Rosenfeld es parte de la generación del '70, y se unió a la escena avanzada. En 1979 hizo su primera acción con el grupo C.A.D.A, el grupo hizo una fuerte inflexión en la historia del arte nacional.
El trabajo de Lotty Rosenfeld, vinculado desde su inicio al grabado, tomó luego, bajo la dictadura de Pinochet, el curso de las grabaciones en producciones cinematográficas que consisten principalmente en operaciones en el espacio público.
Lotty Rosenfeld ha realizado acciones artísticas en diferentes ciudades como Santiago, Washington y Nueva York, Delhi, Kassel, La Habana, entre otras.
